The new year is approaching and it reminds me of this magical year of 2013. It was my first Christmas Eve on Nice and also the first with the love of my life.
At the time, I was looking for a romantic city to spend New Year’s Eve with my girlfriend. I had thought of the Mediterranean, the Alpes Maritimes and Nice. Knowing little about the city, I did some research and then set up a program. After leaving our stuff at the Kyriad hotel in the old port , we had to eat in a good restaurant , then see the fireworks on the Promenade des Anglais, stroll along the seafront and in the streets of Nice to finally dance until ‘early morning.
In reality, it did not happen exactly that way. We actually took so much time for dinner that we did not see the fireworks. We only heard the detonations while we were enjoying the dessert. It was nonetheless an unforgettable eve ! Once the meal finished, we walked in the streets of Nice and on the seaside where French and Italian mingled. For midnight, we went Place Masséna to respect one of the traditions of my girlfriend: to make several times the turn of a place to have luck and success the following year. Then we went dancing … The next day we visited the city of day, presenting a different charm. We went up on the summits of Nice to enjoy breathtaking landscapes. We climbed the castle hill , a very green and romantic space with an impressive waterfall. Our walk continued by visiting the old harbor and downtown lanes to end on the English Walk.
I must say that Nice surprised me. It is a beautiful city, with multiple charms, which is really worth seeing. I highly recommend this destination for Christmas Eve or any other time of year.
